Comments Corona virus was here, Walmart was madness trying to get supplies. Most gatherings were cancelled including luau. Maui dive shop closed one hour early due to the virus. But we had a lovely dive at makena landing, paid 10$ apiece for tanks and weights at Maui dive shop. Drove ourselves to dive site. Saved a lot of money because dive boats use this as a boat dive. We backed right to unloading spot , unloaded and parked our car very close by. Entered the water and swam to the right, using a snorkel until the water got deep. Entire dive was max 30 ft. We followed a turtle for about twenty min. until he led us to a cave, he went in so did we. There was 3 white tip sharks inside. We gave them room so they never got nervous. There is air to breath just back about thirty feet inside the cave. Quite an experience, we’ve been there before so knew what to expect. Lots of turtles on this dive, and they don’t run they’re friendly , probably because the locals are so careful about people getting to close. There was seven turtles napping on the beach. There are great swim throughs on the dive and we listened to whales singing the whole dive. Watch the surge and keep a safe distance fro the coral. You also need a dive flag because dive boats use this as a boat dive and charge 150$. Great dive.
