Comments The Island of Carriacou is a wonderful destination for scuba divers. There are an assortment of lodging within walking distance of the dive center. I stayed at the Rosa Guesthouse, which has a kitchenet in each room setting. I rate Rosa Guesthouse as a 5 star motel type lodging. Having a car is not necessary, but if you stay away from Hillsbrough, a car would be convenient. There is a local minibus system and plenty of taxi and water taxi. I flew to Grenada (GND) - Maurice Bishop International. The ferry schedules were not compatible with my flight out of Grenada, so I opted to fly using SVG Air. With SVG Air, there are baggage considerations. Depending how many passengers, excess baggage may be delayed until the next flight. When flying to a small island within the Caribbean, I work backwards looking for at the local flights or ferries from the international airports and then to the mainland in the U.S. Upon arriving at the ferry port or airport, taxi are waiting for passengers. If you are staying in Hillsbrough, you can easily walk from the airport, depending on your stride, about 15 to 30 minute walk. The reefs are plentiful with coral, eels (green moray, sharptail eel and goldspotted snake eel), eagle rays, turtles, both high hat and spotted drums, nurse sharks, sting rays, electric rays, shrimp, arrow crabs and lobster are just a few of the wonderful sealife you will find. The dive boat is a twin engine pontoon type boat that has easy entry and exit. The old pier in Hillsbrough is a wonderful dive site, home to plentiful species of fish, eels and shrimp, crabs and lobsters.
