Comments Moorea is a beautiful place above the water. Unfortunately, the reef is almost completely dead, acres of gray broken coral. We didn’t see much in the way of reef fish, but there were plenty of black tip, white tip reef and white tip oceanic, and lemon sharks, as well as turtles, rays, and eels. The viz was pretty poor, ranging from 10’ to 30’.
Moorea Blue is an excellent operator. They took care of our gear beween dives. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, patient with the newbies, and adept at pointing out the interesting things. I highly recommend them.
We stayed at the Hilton. Moorea Blue picked us up each morning for the 20-minute ride to the dive shop in the Hotel Manava. The Manava looked every bit as nice as the Hilton, and I would definitely stay there if I return.
