Comments We arrived at Sau Bay during a wind storm with a rough crossing from Somosomo Taveuni. The Fiji Maritime Safety Authority issued navigation restrictions during the first few days of our one week stay. What a way to start a dive vacation! The Sau Bay resort found ways to keep our group – if not completely happy - at least distracted with the staff’s good humor, flavorful meals, and charming accommodations in ocean front bures. We filled in the time with hiking, massages and learning Fiji phrases and customs.
As soon as it was safe, we had our first dives on Rainbow reef. I had dived there in 2015 prior to Cyclone Winston and was anxious to see how the reef had recovered from one of the most intense cyclones on record. The colorful fish were a welcome sight ...
