Comments After diving the Bligh Waters from the Volivoli Dive Resort and the Namenba Marine Reserve from the Jean-Michel Resort, wer traveled from Savusavu (JMC Resort) by private van to Natuvu (about a 1 1/2 drive) and were picked up by one of the dive boats from Sau Bay Resort and were dropped off at the beach of the Sau Bay Resort (where we waded in to the beach, while our gear was carried from the boat to the resort. We stayed at a "Deluxe Oceanfront Bure." The resort is small, (intimate) and beautifully situated, and, very importantly, a very short boat ride to the best sites on Rainbow Reef. The resort was recently purchased by a new owner (who was at the resot while we stayed there) and improvements are still being made. The staff was outstanding and very friendly (as were all the Fijians we met on our 10 day vacation)and went out of there way to please us (there were a total of 5-6 guests at the resort during our stay)/The accommodations were comfortable and well designed, but not luxurious. The food and ambience were excellent.
The dive staff and rental equipment were first rate and each dive had 3 staff and 3-4 divers, so the attention was outstanding. On our last day, when we were flying back home, and therefor did not dive, we were shuttled to nearby Tqveuni Airport by boat, and spent the day touring the beautiful Bouna National Park and Tavoro Waterfalls prior to our short flight from Taveuni Airport to Nadi International Airport, where we boarded out flight home to L.A.
The diving (2 days) on the Rainbow Reef was magnificent, particularly the famous Great White Wall and the Cabbage Patch.
Although I thought the resort and diving were outstanding, it was abit pricey (especially the boat transgers) and it is still a work in progress, but the owner seems very dedicated to making it a truly outstanding destination dive resort.
