Comments Fiji was always on my dive wish list. After speaking with Simon representing Volivoli Beach Resort at Beneath the Sea and Travel & Adventures shows, it became a reality recently. Fiji did not dissappoint! We were met at the airport by our transfers-included driver with a small-sea-shell necklace, not leis, and bottles of Fiji Water, of course. The beachfront resort is fantastic and located on the northernmost point of Fiji's main island, approximately 2.5 hours from the airport. It is a family run affair in its second generation. As the family is in construction, the resort is top notch. Ra Divers, the onsite dive operation, is top notch as well with several custom purpose-built aluminum dive boats, innumerable aluminum 80s, a well appointed and spacious dive camera room, great rental gear and a superior staff. The dive staff and hotel/restaurant/bar staff were the best, happiest, friendliest, warmest, cheeriest and sincerest dive resort personnel we've ever encountered on the planet. Overnight rains reduced the visibility two days and one drift dive was a high speed event. These and repeating 2 dive sites during my 6 dive days/17 dives are the only negatives I can muster. 10 hours from LAX in a middle seat in coach would be the only reason I would balk at committing to a return visit.

UW Photo Comments Only the largest dive boat had a water-filled camera tub. It was fine for the handful of GoPros aboard but no serious UW camera rigs made the trip evidently.
