Comments Our expectations were more than surpassed on this four night/three day dive package. Taveuni is a clean, beautiful island and Paradise is located an hour scenic drive from the airport, away from the few other resorts on this island. What made this special was the warm, professional ambience of the resort. Huge suites, extraordinary food, personalized attention from both resort staff and dive staff (dive shop right next door to the restaurant). Everything was easy, friendly, and with warm water and good weather, a great relaxing place where many guests are frequent return visitors. Most clientele is from the US, but Australia also well represented.
Now to the diving. Two well cared for boats, and knowledgeable professional operation. Dive sites are 5-30 minute ride, with an easy shore dive always available. Coral is healthy and so nice to see some vibrant colors. More hard than soft corals in this area. Currents and surge are rare and so tranquil easy dives where you can get into “the zone” and flow. What is missing of course are pelagics and bigger fish. Diving is not happening in a marine protected reserve, but rather a well fished strait separating Taveuni Island and a larger island. A reef shark sighting is a big deal around these parts.
All that said, for a few days, this is a great option as the topside resort and food are so wonderful. We got a great deal in the Post COVID rebuilding time, and also it was “off season” of January – cyclone season. But only clouds and a few afternoon showers one day.
