Comments [None]Excellent facilities, cabins, crew, food etc. Most helpful crew I've ever encountered. My last visit to Fiji was 18 years ago and conditions have changed considerably. The visibility has decreased tremendously, 17 years ago 80-100 feet this time 30-80 feet. Might be from storms or land based construction. Water temperature considerably less. My logs from 17 years ago was in the 80's this time 77-79, not too bad unless your doing 4 or more dives a day for about 60 minutes a dive. What particularly concerned me was the lack of fish as compared to years ago. Where I once saw schools of tuna, I saw none, Whereas I once saw large schools of sharks I saw small schools of 4 and usually less. Giant clams were few and they weren't giant (juveniles). I asked the crew what happened during the past 18 years? Their response was Chinese fisherman going to the local chiefs, making a deal with them and taking sea-life. Very sad. Night dives-no fish. I tried 2 night dives and surfaced each time after 10 minutes or so. I'd scan the bottom and reefs with my light searching for the red beady eyes invertebrates-in the past, there were many, this time less than 10. Other divers who went on all the night dives reported no life except in one harbor while diving building debris. Corals are magnificent as always (I guess nobody eats them yet). Last day of diving very large schools of barracuda and more sharks & big fish. All drift diving & RIB pickups
