Comments Dominica was one of 4 islands we stopped at on our cruise- we specifically chose this itinerary because it stopped at Dominica, where we wanted to dive. We made our arrangements with Aldive before we left home, and they picked us down the street from where our ship docked. We rented most of the equip- only taking wetsuits, beanie, masks and computers. They took us to their shop were we got our equipment, and off we went with one other diver and his young son. The boat trip out with all the mountains was very pretty, and shortly we were at our first site-L'BYME. We loved the topography, totally different, and full of life. Large barrel sponges, and soft corals abounded. Donny was our dive master, and he made the dive great with a couple of nice finds- octopus- who was out for a long time, and yellow headed jaw fishes. There were all the usual reef fishes, along with sec. blennies and pretty golden crinoids. The wall starts at 25 ft, our depth was 51 ft for 63 min. Our second dive was Champagne, where hot water and bubbles rise from the rocks- heated by the active volcano. Once again, very active with reef fishes everywhere. We also saw garden eels and lesser electric rays- we had not seen these rays before. This dive was 59' for 65 minutes. The viz wasn't great due to recent nearby hurricanes and rain which cased lots of runoff. But the dives were great none the less. We really liked the diving here and plan to return.
