Comments We chose the Marriott Beach Resort for it's location and the onsite availability of the Goby Dive Center. The hotel is well appointed with large rooms and a beautiful view of the ocean. However, this is not an all inclusive hotel and food can be pricy. The location is a $20 taxi ride to downtown Willemstad and $35 to the airport or Hato Caves. Rooms have 220v European outlets, some with USB ports. Adapters were available at the front desk. The hotel staff were very friendly and were always around to help if needed. Hertz has a rep at the hotel if a rental car is desired.

Goby Divers is a top-notch outfit. Everyone was personable and very professional. We arranged for five days of two-tank boat dives. I would compare the diving to Bonaire. No pelagics but lots of small fish life. There were 5 turtles on the double reef site but that was the last time we saw any. The largest fish we saw were Tarpon. There were lots of eels: Spotted, Sharp-tail, and Green morays. There were Tang, Blue and Brown Chromis, French and Queen Angelfish, Rock Beauties, and of course Lionfish. The Lionfish are hunted but we saw 4-5 on every dive. We dove the Superior Producer which was on my bucket list. The wreck can be dove by shore or boat as long as cruise ships are not tied to the dock. The boat live dropped us on the stern and we swam down the hull to the stern then ascended to return via the cargo bays and pilot house. We were not allowed to enter the engive room as it is considered to be too dangerous. All in all the dives were very relaxing and I'm sure to return in the future.
