Comments Curacao has some nice diving (ratings above relative to the Caribbean), and admittedly most is accessible by shore. But for those who prefer to dive from a boat, Goby Divers is an excellent choice. (They also offer guided shore dives, which we did one day so a friend of mine could do a refresher.)

The owners (Angela and Ima) pick you up from your hotel in town, captain the boat, and lead many of the dives. They are professional but also very fun. They are on-time and allow a full hour of bottom time on every dive (I averaged 62 min per dive over 14 dives). Dives are guided but they give flexibility once they know your skill level.

Weather and waves permitting (roughest seas from December-February), they visit some great dive sites on the far south-east end of the island (30 min boat ride) that have healthy fields of staghorn coral in the shallows and sloping to steep walls. We made the trip that direction in 5 of 6 days of boat diving. Otherwise, they turn north-west for calmer waters. They serve a sandwich and fruit between or after dives. They washed and dried our wetsuits and BCDs and dropped them back at the hotel the day after our last dive - above and beyond service!

They were able to accommodate multiple skill levels. For small groups, they would take divers who consumed air faster back to the boat without interruption of the dive for the experienced folks. They split larger groups with 2 DMs.

This operation is very good and has the potential to be an elite day boat (think Aldora or Living Underwater in Coz, or Ocean Frontiers in GC) in the Caribbean, they just need the elite divers to fill the ranks day-in and day-out.
