Comments Diving was a mixed bag.

The good: lots of big animals: goliath grouper, sharks, sting rays, etc.

The bad: corals were bleached and, in many cases, dead. Vis wasn't so good due to recent hurricane and an earthquake on Day 1.

The goliath grouper was like a dump truck coming through our dive group from behind. HUGE! DM estimated he was 400+ pounds and 50-100 years old. Very friendly. If you were still, he would come up and put his lips on your chin! They wanted scratched and/or petted! What an experience!

The aggressor staff did a very admirable job of running the ship given what little was available to them in Cuba. (More on that later). Friendly, accommodating. Food was decent, though nearly all of it was overcooked. Local liquor and beer was adequate.

The live aboard broke down our last night and they had to send a second boat (a real tin can!) to pick us up and take us back to the port. Very difficult to sleep in those bunk beds. Men, women, everybody in one area of the 2nd "live aboard". I had to sleep in a bunk that was incredibly small sandwiched under the ladder for second level. Very difficult to get in/out of that. Definitely the most uncomfortable night I've ever had sleeping.

We got into port about 3 am and took a bus for ~2 hrs to Camuguay airport. Cuban countryside is incredibly raw. Not much farming or anything else going on in the country. No toilet paper in the airport! American Airlines' 737 broke down. We waited ~2 hrs for a second plane from Miami. IT ALSO BROKE DOWN! Took ~2 hours to confirm that they could use the airplane and then ~1.5 hrs for paperwork.

I'm NEVER going back to Cuba for any reason, though I'm glad to have done this trip just to see what it's like. NOTHING works in Cuba.

People who want to vote for socialists and communistists need to be sent to Cuba for a month or so just to see how naive that view is!
