Comments Juan has been leading small groups of divers on Cozumel for many years (he's also great teaching new divers) & has a very capable staff. Love the small 6-pack boats & personal service. We were able to have input on where we dove (most of the week we had a couple that was training for future cave diving wearing doubles so we opted for swim-thru areas - Palancar & south reef). The shop is located at Hotel Barracuda so is convenient to central town. I was staying at Palace Hotel. Boat picked me up & dropped me off at their pier. Although, as in the rest of the world, there may not be the same quality/quantity of fish & coral, the Coz reefs are still beautiful with impressive formations & worth diving. Turtles, sharks & rays still sighted on almost every dive as are some wonderful small creatures like the endemic splendid toadfish. All Cozumel diving is drift which at times can be swift so, especially for beginners, small group is very important.
Don't miss a great restaurant in Cozumel - Bajau. Best food & ambiance on the island (or anywhere!). On Melgar in town center. Hosts Ricardo & Fabiola make you feel welcome & the underwater videos are beautiful. Enjoy some awesome, creative cocktails (if you're not diving tomorrow!). It's become popular so reservations, especially for large parties, recommended.
