Comments This was our first venture into cave diving. We had actually spent our entire diving career exploring the coral-rich waters of Southeast Asia. However, Donald Trump’s erratic politics regarding Iran forced us to look for alternative diving destinations in the West. When a friend recommended Planet Scuba Mexico in Puerto Aventuras, we decided to give them a try.

Planet Scuba is basically a one-man operation. Markus Teupe, the German owner, and his team of highly qualified cavern dive guides are well connected within the European cave- and tech-diving community.

During the daily deco hour at Markus’ favourite bar, we met some really interesting cave and tech divers. These guys were playing in a completely different league from us.
