Comments Fist time to Cozumel. 4 in our group, ages 51-64. Sonny, one of our dive buddies visited Coz last year and highly recommended Villa Aldora and Aldora Divers and made a specific request for our divemaster to be Mateo, who he dove with last year. Booking with both were very easy on-line. 3 of us live in Jacksonville, Fl and one in Greenville, SC. We 3 from Jax booked our flight into Charlotte NC to meet up with Sonny who drove 2 hours to Charlotte for a non-stop to Coz. We arrived at Villa Aldora early afternoon on Saturday and were greeted by Melissa who manages the villa along with her husband Craig. After setting up in the North Villa (2bd/2 1/2 bath with ocean view), Craig took us to Mega, the local large grocer, so that we could stock up on groceries. Sunday morning was our first dive and Mateo was excellent. Very saftey minded and made certain to keep an eye on me and my other friend who had not dove there before. I was told Coz was "drift diving" and I had assumed it would be like West Palm Beach. NOT! Some of the currents were very strong and I jokingly referred to my trip as my advanced buddy breathing cert trip. I only had one dive that didn't require Mateo handing me his octopus. The diving was beautiful and I finally got the hang of managing myself in the currents. After the first morning dive, we would head to a beachfront restaurant, eat lunch and then head out for our second dive. Memo, part owner of Aldora Divers would meet us at lunch to be sure we were enjoying our dives.

The people of Cozumel are wonderful and very happy to have us there. We made certain to support them by going to town often and making a financial contribution to buy their wares and food. La Mission restaurant is awesome. We went there twice for dinner. Their margarittas could not be matched and fish dishes awesome. Sorrisi is also an excellent restaurant and I would recommend the Tortollini Ala Pera.....killer. Pricey but worth one dinner there.

All in all, should I return to Coz, I would stay again at Villa Aldora and dive with Aldora Divers being certain Mateo is the divemaster.

Should you book with either, please tell them Becky, Preston, Sonny and Ginger say hello.
