Comments We have been diving Grand Cayman since 1994 and diving with Giles at Wall to Wall diving for about 20 years. They have a new boat since 2022, which is catamaran with twin outboards. Super stable, and fast with excellent shade. We haven't been excited about Grand Cayman for a few years because of how built up it is (Miami Light), and deterioration of the reefs. We wouldn't have gone this year, except for the fact that my grand nephew from New York City just graduated from high school and had never been anywhere other than the Gulf Coast of florida where the diving is mediocre at best. So we took him to Grand Cayman. For him, the diving was spectacular. The North Wall still has very impressive underwater topography. It is hard to argue with the majesty of the wall itself. But the coral is in sad shape with about 75% dead. Corresponding to this is a significant decline in the fish population. Yes, there are fish but in comparison to 20 years ago, I would say there has been about a 50% decline. Having said that, we had a great time. We are always happy underwater. We saw a few sharks, lots of spotted eagle rays, a few goliath groupers, and the other usual stuff. Giles dive operation is excellent with great attitudes from the dive masters/instructors. If you like wrecks, you have to do the Kittiwake with Steve. In the pre-dive briefing, he gives a fantastic history of the ship itself and the work that went into actually getting sunk in Grand Cayman. On the dive itself, he starts at the back of the ship and goes through pretty much every room (which he has previously described). I'm not a big fan of wrecks but I must say that this was the best wreck dive ever. Fredrikke, from Norway, is amazing! She has already walked about 5-6 miles in the morning on her way to work. No motorized vehicles for her. This is after she has spent an hour or two in the gym. Not only does she love to lead dives, but her love for scuba diving is so great, that she often goes diving when she isn't working! Matt is excellent as well. If you are going to dive on Grand Cayman, you won't go wrong with Wall-to-wall diving.
