Comments Not being our first choice, we settled on returning to Little Cayman Beach Resort for our Christmas dive trip due only to convenience and availability. Airfare was excessively expensive, as anticipated for holiday travel from NYC. Having to overnight on Grand Cayman at an inferior hotel for $700US+ was egregious. Reef Divers @ Little Cayman Beach Resort is a well-oiled machine that sent 3 boats of approximately 20 divers each out daily for 2 morning dives and 1 afternoon dive. They tout valet dive service which includes tank-BC delivery to bench-seated divers on the boat's dive platform, tank-BC removal post dive and swapping out bottles after each dive. Valet dive service is a nice amenity for the elderly and infirm but regularly resulted in over 10-minute waits on the bottom for the rest of the group and accompanying dive guide. Our 7-night, 17-dive package (5 days @ 3 dives plus 1 day @ 2 dives) included Nitrox. Only 1 night dive was available and at an extra cost of over $115US each. Three buffet-style meals per day were also included. The food was delicious, varied and plentiful and resulted in both the wife and I putting on more than a couple of pounds each, good for New Year's resolutions. The dive shop manager was not on island but Icelander Ragnar, the second-in-command, Captained, guided and ran the operation seamlessly and superbly even with 3(?) new hires on staff. Many of the dives were on the wall of Bloody Bay on the island's north side with incredible terrain and many swim-throughs. Dictated 60 min./60 foot max. depths on dives 2 and 3 was a bit oppressive, however, and resulted in often returning to the boat with 1,500 psi. While 4 shark species, 3 ray species and 2 turtle species were seen, many reef fish were not. During the week, I only saw 1 trumpet fish and at less than 6" long. On the night dive we did find 3 squadrons of squid in the water column including a huge cloud of 1" fry but zero slipper lobsters and octopuses. The waitstaff at meals were pleasant and attentive but the bartenders left much room for improvement in service and attitude. The resort has a serviceable pool & hot tub deck and a south-facing sand beach with waterfront palapa-covered hammocks, coconut palms and beach chaise lounges. Bicycles and kayaks are available for guest usage.

UW Photo Comments The dive boats lack a camera rinse tub and only have a camera table which was crowded with iPhones, coffee thermoses, water bottles, clothing, dry bags, dive guide breakfast sandwiches and hard-boiled eggs (yes, some knucklehead regularly brought a hard-boiled egg to feed the fish) leaving little room for dive cameras. There were 2 camera rinse tubs at the dive shop but were the furthest rinse tubs from the boat dock. Serious UWPs will be disappointed but there is a Backscatter-affiliate on site.
