Comments Little Cayman Beach Resort/Reef Divers may be the best spot in all the Caribbean for reef diving. The coral is beautiful, large and small fish are plentiful, turtles and sharks are seen on nearly every dive and the visibility is consistently good.
Reef Divers is a very good operation. Gear is taken care of and the crew is attentive to each diver's needs. After giving them all your gear, there is little to do except analyze your tank predive, board the boat, and jump in. The boats (Newton 42s) are great dive platforms but were a little too crowded on most days for space and there was only one dive master in the water on each dive (okay for experienced divers). Current was minimal, temps were 81-82 degrees F, and viz was 100 feet most days. Windy conditions blew out one day of the week. On each dive, the divemaster would return the group to the mooring area after 45-50 mins and divers were allowed to stay down reasonably longer.
Little Cayman Beach Resort is Fantastic. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have plenty of storage area. The staff is attentive, warm, and personal. The food is restaurant-quality-plenty of seafood, creative side-dishes, fresh salad and fruit, and amazing desserts for lunch and dinner. Breakfast had everything you could think of including an omelet station.
The only drawback of this island for some is that there is little to do on land. There is a small museum, a booby bird observation center, and a marine institute doing coral restoration and research. Little Cayman is a serious diving destination not a family vacation spot for non-divers.
