Comments In a word, the reefs are disappointing. I had heard from friends that the environment had deteriorated but I was not prepared for how dead most of the reefs were on the Brac. Not a lot of reef fish and the corals were covered in algae. We did make it to Little Cayman for one day, and it was better, but hardly in great shape.

The Cayman Government is allowing the mining of the Sand and Gravel for sale internationally and for use at tourist beaches. Anywhere that those barges go, the water quality is fairly bad.

That was the bad. Now for the good.

Reef Divers - I can't praise them enough. They are a well oiled machine, were pleasant even when the weather changes, and most importantly, really know their dive sites. They were able to bring us to areas that, while dissapointing, still provided the odd surprise. They knew exactly were to find the best remaining wildlife and intact corals. Without them, this would have been a dive to forget.

Brac Beach Resort - Well maintained, great staff, and had zero issues. If you are going to the Brac, I would highly recommend them.
