Comments I've taken groups here before and always had a good experience. Lesley, the agent on site, is great to work with and always tries to accommodate. Diving the East End is, in my opinion, much better than most other places on the island-definitely better than 7-mile beach which has been over dived for years.
On this trip I had several students, and the shop was great to accommodate us by using a small pontoon boat to do certification dives in shallow water, in sand flats, straight out from Compass Point and well within sight of land. The ride out is in very flat water -no wave action to deal with for new divers. It allows you to focus on skills and nothing else. There are a few reefs and tropical fish so that new divers can swim around after doing skills and see things they've not seen before, making the dive both productive and interesting.
Marked dive sites for certified divers do not disappoint, and there is very good variety. Cayman is famous for wall dives, and there are a multitude of those available which include swim throughs and a fair number of fish to view, including Caribbean reef sharks in several places. Grand Cayman has been the 'go to' destination for divers for years, and while you're likely not going to see something extremely rare or unusual, you'll have a good week of diving with no complaints from your fellow travelers.
Additionally, Compass Point Resort has beautiful condos overlooking the ocean as well as a very good restaurant (Eagle Rays) at the resort, and other places close by that are equally good. There are grocery and liquor stores fairly close by in either direction so you can fix your own meal or snack in your condo should you choose not to go out.
I take groups here because the accommodations, staff, and meals are great-I've never had anyone complain. Diving is very good as well, particularly for less experienced divers. Cayman overall is very predictable and that's a plus for a lot of people!
