Comments My wife & I returned after a visit in August & we found a marked improvement in the food at LCBR with continued excellent dive operations. We had an excellent room & the housekeeping services were superb. The staff is focused on customer service & all had a helpful attitude and a smile.
The dive operation is consistently excellent. Our divemasters were Jon & Anna & they are superb. They both found critters consistently & were focused on safety & allowing you freedom to dive alone with a buddy. Roll calls are done regularly & safety talks & dive briefings were thorough.
The diving was complicated by a low pressure system that sat over the Caymans for the entire week. Several days were really less than good with decreased viz with surge (Mixing Bowl) but other days the viz was nearly excellent. All week the days were overcast with intermittent showers with thunderstorms off & on.
We dived the south side one day & the bleaching, especially at Windsock, was quite extensive. From a distance, the corals looked as if they had been dusted by snow & hopefully thy will recover. The water temp was 86-87 degrees F & a rash guard was very comfortable.
Fish life was pretty good. We also saw mantis shrimp, morays, etc. we saw 3 lionfish all week. Turtles were seen occasionally.
The food really improved since our August visit. A new chef was hired & the food was really excellent & we had nothing but good things to say.
Cayman Air is always an adventure getting back to Grand Cayman, but we made it, even with our luggage!
Overall, we enjoyed our trip. The weather was poor, but nothing we could do about that. We look forward to returning soon.
