Comments In April 2015 my son and I took a long weekend dive trip to Grand Cayman. Having researched on Undercurrent, my son chose Indigo Divers for our guided diving and we were delighted with the choice. This is a small boat operation that takes a maximum of six guests, which means Chris and Katie Alpers and their assistant Bec cater to your every need, setting up the gear and helping you into it so all you do is roll into the water to start the dive. And at the end you unclip in the water and they pull out your gear so you do not do any heavy lifting, which, as an older diver, I really appreciated even though I am in good condition. They work the northwest reefs and know the best reefs where you will see a good variety of sea life, including delightfully tiny creatures that most guides would pass by. And Bec, who alternates with Katie on the excursions, personally bakes wonderful cookies that are part of the on-board snacks provided during the surface interval. Bec also led us on a terrific night dive at the mini-wall where several eels, a school of Tarpon, a night-view-only variety of coral and an octopus were part of the entertainment. Chris, Katie and Bec all have great personalities that made us feel like we were diving with friends. We did a total of nine dives with Indigo Divers and the cost was comparable to what we would have paid with one of the big boat operators. It’s easy for me to highly recommend Indigo Divers to anyone who is looking to explore the reefs on this corner of Grand Cayman.

We went to Sunset House and Eden Rock for some shore dives. The staff at Sunset House was especially helpful - just checked our certs, gave us the weights and air we needed and sent us on our way.

As for the accommodations, we were not looking for luxury and the Comfort Suites was adequate for us. Our only issue was that the shower was slightly warm at best, never hot, but it was not enough of an issue for us to even complain.

Dining was good to great at several locations we used in the area.
