Comments This was our 8th dive trip to the Cayman Islands and the worst one as well. Not that it was terrible, but several negatives outweighed the positive and made it a mediocre trip.

Anyone who’s been to Cayman is aware of the high prices for everything. That’s the same, possibly even more expensive this time.

We were picked up as advertised at our lodging each morning for the first 3 mornings, but after that were asked to bring our own car the other 3 days. This wasn’t a problem, but not as advertised.

The boat, while nice and comfortable had all dive gear stored on a back platform area, where we could not access it to check our own Nitrox or anything else…and some of the dives we had near half-full tanks. We can only hope we were using 32% Nitrox.

The husband and wife team were in the water with us for all dives, but pointed out very little—actually, the husband pointed out some things, the wife nothing. The highlight of the whole trip was an octopus sighting.

The diving was not nearly as good as Grand Cayman East End diving, or that of Little Cayman. One or two fairly large groupers was about it for large fish. Corals and other fish okay, but again, not equal to other places in the Cayman Islands.

The low-point of the diving was the rude wife. The husband was pleasant enough, although he seemed on the verge of burn-out. The wife however would go to the front of the bow rider for all rides (which averaged about 3 minutes from dock) out and back and surface intervals, and had nothing to do with the divers, other than to complain about one diver having split fins (you figure that one out) or voiced complaints to other divers when one very friendly diver on board asked her a question….and when the last day was up and we all paid and departed she turned her back on everyone without saying thank-you, go to hell, nothing!
