Comments [None]We dove here as a group in early November 2024. Access seems reliable via Grand Cayman. Lots of flights/day. Resort is great with great rooms - all of which face the water/pool. 2 stories, no elevators. The staff was fantastic. Management dealt with any issues, requests or concerns. We were able to use a very nice conference room for our meetings as well. Food was very good and plentiful, served buffet style. DR staff was great. Dive shop a short walk from rooms. Well equipped with decent appearing rental gear. Boats are spacious and well equipped with heads and rescue equipment. Dive guides are friendly and helpful. They were more than willing to help me to remove BC etc in water as I have a bad back. The dives were typical. Dove as a group. 60 minute max. Most dives 60-80 feet or less. 2 am dives with optional afternoon or night dives weather permitting. Coral not in the best shape. Bleaching and stony coral disease has taken a toll. Didn't see many lionfish. Fair number of reef fish with reef sharks and nurse sharks here and there. Now for the weather: When we arrived it was quite windy and diving limited by 6-8 foot waves. A few dives were made but several dives were canceled by small craft warnings. THEN IT GOT WORSE!! We were directly in the path of Hurricane Rafael which was Cat 1 when the eye passed 20 miles away. Minor damage to the resort but dock damage was experienced. We sheltered and did fine. We were able to have 2 solid days of diving before departure. Little Cayman fared far worse. Obviously not their fault but it did impact our diving obviously. Ratings above influenced by weather as well.
