Comments The dive operator didn't honor our contract. The first day I was supposed to have 3 tanks on a dive boat. I was told the first dive was a check out shore dive off of one of their piers at the hotel. I was also told there would be someone on the dock to help us with getting in and out of the water. So no first boat dive. I was also told no 2nd or 3rd tanks boat dives but we could do pier dives all we want. There was no one from the dive shop on the pier to help us in and out with our gear. Try climbing up a ladder with your tank on or getting your camera out of the water safely. I took my muck stick with me only to have some dive shop person in the water come up and tell me I couldn't have one. Considering that the dive briefing didn't mention this it was an unpleasant experience. The dive operations should have briefed this prior to going in the water, they didn't.

The dive shop enforces the dive sites based on areas that are labeled red, yellow and green. This is to prevent spread of SCTLD. Considering that the areas are either next to each other or across the channel on Klein Bonaire. I don't see the enforcing the priorities of the areas are going to stop the spread. Your next dive can only be in an area that is the same color or a color of lower priority. For example. If you dive a Green Area your next dive can be in green, yellow or red areas. However, once in a yellow area you can't go back a dive in a green area. If you dive a red area first you can only dive red areas for the rest of the day. Watch the dive boat on the first dive of the day and make sure they don't start in a red area, otherwise you will be diving all day in red areas which have more damaged corals than the other areas.

Divi has 2 piers one was damaged in 2022 due to a storm. This forced the hotel to close the larger of 2 piers. The pier in use is the smallest and doesn't have room for lots of dive lockers on the pier. Because of that we had to shuttle our gear down a ramp in a cart and then bring it back up to the locker climbing uphill pulling a somewhat heavy cart. The large pier had been closed for a year and the hotel was waiting for a permit to rebuild it and didn't know when it would be approved. Those with dive lockers not located on the pier required more effort to dive.

Bring a lock for the locker or they have one you can rent.

Restaurants around the hotel were in walking distance and have good food.

Divers are required to dunk all their gear after diving in a tub on the pier which contains disinfectants but are not properly labeled. If you have u/w camera gear and dive computers make sure they are not dunked in the tubs with disinfectant. Doing so could cause the o-ring seals to give way and leak.

Dive Policy

Dive own profile yes
Enforced diving restrictions All dive operations in Bonaire are required to limit diving based on areas. Areas are divided into Red, yellow and green in an attempt to limit the spread of SCTLD. As the areas are right next to each other the attempt to prevent spread of the disease is worthless.
Liveaboard? no Nitrox Available? yes

UW Photo Comments Nothing special about their photography setup, maybe a small rinse tank but that was about it. Becareful not to dunk your camera gear in one of the rinse tubs on the pier unless it is for cameras.
