Comments We took the Continental red eye from Newark to Bonaire. Got in about 4 to 4:30 am. The car rental was very efficient. In spite of rumors to the contary, there is still a car rental operation in the airport parking area. There is also a new operation across the road from the airport. Check in time at Den Laman's is around noon. The office doesn't open until 8:00 am, so you just have to wait outside. If you don't reserve a room for the night prior to your arrival, you may have to wait until afternoon to get your room. We were fortunate that they weren't busy and were able to get in as soon as the office opened. This is pretty darn important after being up all night!

We have made at least 10 previous trips to Bonaire. We prefer to do all shore diving because of the flexibility. The coral and fish were plentiful as always, although recent hurricans have destroyed most every thing down to 20-25 feet. The pace of building on the island is a bit alarming. I fear Bonaire is in danger of over development. Also a local told us in the next 5 months, over 100 cruise ships are scheduled to arrive on the island. If you haven't been to Bonaire, you should make a trip soon. I believe Bonaire is promoting the cruise ship industry over diving. That amount of traffic cannot be good over the long term and diving is bound to suffer.
