Comments	[None]We were last in Belize in 2014. The change in the coral is profound. Soft coral continues to flourish. But hard coral is just dead. We did not see bleaching, or even SCD. Instead, the hard coral is covered in algae. No color. No resistance to the environment. Toppled over. No coral blennies etc. We read a recent article about a die off of black urchins in the Caribbean, causing an overgrowth of algae. Though the dive masters did their best to remain enthusiastic and show us what they could, privately, they expressed their concern for the coral reef. The staff and facilities at Turneff Island rival the best dive resorts of Indonesia (Wakatobi for instance), the reefs are in sorry shape. We left with profound sadness for our world!

UW Photo Comments	[None]I shlepped my camera to Belize, and did my first dives without it (accomodating to boat and staff). However, after the first dives, I never took it out of the suitcase. There was nothing I wanted to take a picture of.
