Comments This was an awesome trip. The ocean life was fantastic. Spotted toad fish, free swimming moray eels during the day, which is very unusual(but probably because they are being fed the speared lion fish) and lots of the regular critters, turtles, lobsters...
We have been doing Dancer live aboard's here for 20 years. When we first started diving here the corals where pristine. Over the years we watched it decline but in the last few years we are seeing it come back to what it was 20 years ago. The fish life and corals are coming back strong. In order to keep the fish life strong we need to reduce the number of lion fish by teach the indigenous fish to eat them or allow divers to spear them.
The Sun Dancer is my favorite live aboard. The boat is awesome and the crew is more so. Between the two cooks, Carlos and Jerry, with help from Barbara and Elia, meals are prepared like a 5 star restaurant. Captains and some crew members come and go but some of the crew we have been with for 16+ years.
The only negative that I saw was putting a chum bucket out to draw sharks. This is the first time in all our years of diving Dancer boats that we have seen them do this. We have seen sharks on every trip over the 20 years without chumming.
This was a special 10 day trip at the price of a 7 day trip and we hope that they will do this more than once a year
If you are looking for easy diving with great corals, great shear walls, awesome fish life and great accommodations this is a trip for you.
