Comments Overall experience was 2-3, none of which was the fault of the crew or seaworthiness of the boat. The crew was enthusiastic and always very helpful, especially the captain. Captain Drew made a point of closely interacting with the guests and was always on point to make sure their needs were taken care of. He did a great job throughout the week. The rest of the crew worked their tails off all week and quickly fixed the small boat issues that cropped up such as a head that broke during the trip.

We did several wall dives and while the walls were very impressive geologically, there was VERY little marine life on them from corals to fish. The best part of the wall dives were the numerous and often long swim-thru’s that fed out onto the wall. The swim-thru’s were really fun. Almost no game fish were seen through the trip. I saw two black grouper, a couple of muttons, and some barracuda and sharks but the numbers were dismally low on all. The best dives all week were the super shallow (20 ft) dives which was fine. These sites had incredible coral mounds, tons of tropical fish and rays. I was finally able to spot a nudibranch was great. I could have done these dives all week as there was a ton of beautiful stuff to see.

The boat, the Morningstar, was well kept. It is a 65’ sailboat with 3 sets of accommodations. The crew lives in the stern, the mid-ship housed the eating salon, galley, and several berths and forward was two different areas of sleeping areas. All the berths were double decked and fit one person except the berths in the salon which could sleep two apiece. Space was very tight. The heads made an airplane bathroom look large. There was no wide stance with your hammer pants going on. That being said, the berths were comfortable, the AC cold, and I had no trouble sleeping comfortably.

UW Photo Comments the boat had on camera table which could probably house 3 rigs albeit tightly. many various other items were kept on the camera table. if you had 5-10 full camera rigs, that would be a problem.
