Comments The trip began when I boarded the Qantas A380 at Tom Bradley Terminal in LA. Then it was 15 hours to Sidney in Business Class comfort. Being able to get a solid night’s sleep on the plane was critical and resulted in minimal jetlag. I then had to make the transfer from the Sidney International Terminal to their Domestic one. This took over 2 hours and involved long lines and a scary bus ride across the tarmac in which we dodged fuel and baggage trucks.

I boarded the Spoilsport and away we went on a very rough 12-hour run to the north. Several people were seasick during this crossing. The diving commenced the next day, and it was rough. The winds were constant and strong. This made for murky in water conditions and a lot of surge and current. The crew on Spoilsport are first rate, and they did a very good job dealing with the conditions. There was always a zodiac standing by and they ran a current line from the boat all the way to the reef.

The 3 main in water highlights for me were the shark dive at Osprey Reef , the night dive at Gotham City, and the Cuttlefish we had on our very last spot of the trip. The shark dive featured numerous grey reef sharks and clear water. Gotham City is a site they do late afternoon and again at night. The night dive is the highlight. Th ...
