Comments [None]Aruba is not the dive destination that Bonaire and Curacao are. We went to Aruba for a time share that my family owns. The room was real inexpensive so we thought we would go. Plane tickets for those dates was ridiculous Sat to Sat so I bought Tuesday to Tuesday. Which means I needed somewhere to stay for a couple days till the time share opened up. Went to VRBO and found Beach White Villa. WOW-a 3 million $ home converted to appts. We were on the 2nd floor with a completely open air kitchen and patio and dining area. The bedroom was enclosed and was huge. Cooking Breakfast and eating outside with the birds was great. Found out the wholes in our bread bags were from the birds pecking them-had to cover the bread. Put fruit and bread on the railings and watched the action. Tree top level with a spectacular ocean view. Across the way was an $8 mill home- nice neighborhood to walk and ogle the houses. We never went to our timeshare-I just extended our stay in paradise. The California lighthouse was in view. The Island national park Arikok has caves and is worth an afternoon drive. You need a rental car for your stay to get around.
Right across the street was Arashi beach less than 50 yards away with some of the nicest snorkeling I have been a part of. Snorkel for an hour-get lunch-snorkel for another hour-it was very nice.
Moray ells right off shore an eagle ray was spotted and my wife and I saw a fishball in 8 feet of water that held millions of 4 inch fish with a green stripe down the side. 3 plate size tortoises swam right thru the ball and on the bottom of the sand was many large starfish.
I did a 1 day dive with Aqua Windes. They were a fantastic and well run outfit but the diving had poor visibity and I saw more fish snorkeling but a lot more coral out deeper on the dive.
The Island is packed with hotels and packed with big resturants with a large variety of good selections but we only found 1 quaint beachside local feeling place Carlitos with great burgers and a bucket of beer. We even went there twice due to lack of options.
We had a great time-which we always do I never complain or compare-I just try to enjoy whatever life brings

Plenty of local restaurants with early bird (5-7 pm) specials. You can get a burger and beer anyplace! See my recent review.
