Comments N.B. we only had one 2-tank dive, albeit to the Parc National Marin de Nosy Tanikely, which is highly touted for its diving. (We had a lengthy trip in Madagascar and Southern Africa, and the diving was almost an afterthought.) Note also that Plongee Nosy Komba had a 5.0 rating on Google.

Desiring a relaxed few days in the middle of a lengthy land-focused trip, we stayed on Nosy Komba, rather than the more heavily traveled Nosy Be, which is a popular resort destination for Europeans—especially the French. That bigger island has the airport, several dive shops, cars, roads, etc. Nosy Komba has none of the above, save for one dive shop.

We rented an entire staffed villa just 50 meters from the dive shop ($270 for 4 nights, plus cost of meals and staff tips). Closest Airport Nosy Be Getting There direct flights via Air Link from Johannesburg to Nosy Be, or from the Capital on Air Madagascar, followed by taxi and short boat ride to Nosy Komba, where we stayed (or, a 20-30 minute boat charter from Ankify if you are touring Northern Madagascar).
