Comments I was in Cape Verde during the off season. Not very many experienced divers on the island. Most dive shops cater to Try Scubas and new open water divers. CVD had the most available for experienced divers on the island with three zodiacs of varying sizes. Everybody from all three shops is transported to main shop by the pier for the dives. Tanks loaded beforehand. Gear is placed in bags and transported to the very busy pier. At pier, carry gear out to pier and hand down to zodiac. Then board by stairs. On return, zodiac goes to beach where divers jump off and wade to shore and walk back to shop. Gear brought back separately. This was pretty standard for all dive shops except some loaded boats by walking from the beach to the boats.

As for the diving, it is similar to the Caribbean. Schools of grunts, snappers, and jacks. Lots and lots of eels of some very different varieties. Nudis were plentiful Loggerheads were laying eggs so also were plentiful. Coral not as varied but in very good shape. A few frogfish. Pufferfish on one site were in the hundreds. Octopus were plentiful on the one night dive that was available. Did not make it to the caves because there were not enough experienced divers to make the trip.

UW Photo Comments The zodiacs are not designed for large cameras, strobes and trays. There is a small water bucket that was fine for my TG-6 and others Go-Pros. The crew were very careful with the camera equipment.
