Just Had Your Tank Inspected? You Sure About That?

If at all possible, it’s best to have your tank inspected by someone you know and trust. That admonition is especially timely in light of the recent indictment of a Virginia firm, Fire Safety Products, Inc., for allegedly charging for tank inspections that were never performed. According to the indictment, during the period from January, 1999, through April, 2001, Fire Safety Products’ employees certified that literally hundreds of uninspected cylinders were fit for use. The cylinders included medical oxygen cylinders and firefighter air packs as well as scuba tanks.
