There's a Cockroach in My Regulator

We have just few copies left of our 244 page book filled with the most unusual and unique stories everappearing in Undercurrent. I'll send you a brand new autographed copy for the rock bottom price of $9.99 plus shipping. Order directly from Amazon by clicking here. Makes a great holiday gift.

Amazing Diving Stories

For more great underwater adventure stories, pick up this absorbing book, just out in paperback, by John Bantin, one of Undercurrent's regular contributors and the leading UK dive writer. He has compiled dozens of tales that will delight every serious diver. Consider the British diver who barely survived a crocodile attack while diving from an Indonesian liveaboard. Bantin gets behind the scenes of terrible tragedies, and applies his great wit to his own travels and travails. Click here to order through Amazon and our profit will go directly to saving coral reefs (we'll get 6% of any other purchase you make when you buy this or There's a Cockroach in my Regulator).

Our World Underwater Dive Show December in Phoenix

If you live in Arizona, December 6 and 7 at the Phoenix Convention Hall is your chance to get a firsthand look at new dive equipment, visit scores of booths touting dive destinations, new and old, and attending a fine underwater film festival.http://www.ourworldunderwater.com/Phoenix

Amos Nachoum

Amos Nachoum, who lives in Monterrey, CA, has been leading unique big animal trips for decades. In a recent trip filming crocodiles, the croc got the best of his GoPro. Watch Amos on his Okavango Delta dive by visiting here. (Visit our Facebook page for other interesting video clips, photos and stories)

Looking for a Gift for that Special Diver?

How about Aquatic Thrusters, a $31,000 hands-free silent system that propels you at 3.5 knots, fast enough to follow a whale shark. HammacherSchlemmer's Thrusters are currently used by U.S. military combat swimmers, but are now available for U.S. citizens. "The twin six-inch diameter thrusters mount to the outside of a diver's lower thighs . . .while its power source and throttle setting secures around the waist . . . .the brushless electric motors provide virtually silent yet powerful hands-free operation . . . ideal for snorkeling." At least, that's what the promo says.

New Mask Under Development

The Scubus S mask will sport both an HD camera and a light, but more important it will print out dive information on the inside of the mask; in fact, you can type in messages on a small wrist device to send to your buddy to read on herScubus S mask. At least that's the idea and the developers are trying to use crowd funding to get it going. Invest a small sum, get a larger discount when it arrives on the market - if it ever does, that is.

Coming up in Future issues

Travel pieces by our anonymous reviewers on the Caribbean Explorer II, Tonga and Fiji, Lombok, Curacao, the Philippines and Raja Ampat, just to name a few; and we'll have features on the best times to dive anywhere in the world, the move to end the certification-for-life C card, and who is behind the effort to remove the defunct Gulf oil rigs that have become fine fish habitat for liveaboard divers-and what you can do about it --and much much more.

A Website Page with All Your Reader Reports

We are proud to announce a personalized reports page for you, containing a listing of all reader reports you submitted. We link this from the Members' home page as well as all your reports. If you have submitted some, you can see your page here. If you haven't yet submitted one, you can submit one quickly here, and immediately get your own reports page!

Many Other Improvements to Reader Reports

We've made several enhancements to our Reader Reports. These include:

  • As above, there's now a personalized page listing all reader reports by an author. We link each report to the author's page for all to see. If you have submitted reader reports you can see your page here.
  • We improved listings of reader reports,
    • including report titles,
    • partial display of the comments,
    • liveaboard or resort, and
    • how many helpful votes from others
For example, see Cozumel's page or Indonesia's.
  • You can now mark a report as "Helpful". We show you the number of such votes in the reports and listings.
  • We now mark reporters with different colored stars if they've submitted many reports. Titles and stars depend on number of reports submitted.
  • You can enter extra fields in reports you file, such as titles, the closest airport, and how to get there

If you experience any problems with any of these, or anything else on the website for that matter, please contact Dave.
