A couple of dive sites had very strong currents which were unexpected by
all. Most sites had little or no current. We were a small group but
very compatible. We mingled with the crew which I understand isn't normal.
We loved it! The crew was mostly Canadian. The captain was awesome. We
did a couple of dives exploring what damage H. Ike had done to the reefs
(devastated). Most dives consisted of a wall dive first and shallower
dives later. Most of us couldn't resist dipping over the wall for a peek.
Constant lookout for the spotted eagle rays! We saw dolphins on the
surface. Sharks on most dives. The swinging of the boat on the moorings
is a little disconcerting when one is doing a safety stop. You can hang on
to the down rope and go along for the ride or wait for the boat to swing
back your way! The divemasters were great at helping divers back to the
boat and in finding little critters. Because we were a small group, we
were able to do dawn dives at the expense of not doing night dives. And
several drift dives. It was a great week!
