Comments I had just returned for my sixth trip to Palau, once at Palau Pacific Resort, once with Peter Hughes and four times with Fish & Fins. While all of the operations are very good, Fish & Fins is obviously the stand out that keeps me coming back. I have dove on the Ocean Hunter 2 once and the Ocean Hunter 1 twice and most recently the magnificent Ocean Hunter 3. On this last trip I was unlucky enough to experience not one but two Typhoons over a 3 week trip.

I wont get that far into the diving in Palau itself except to say that I have over in many of the best destinations in the world and Palau is the best in my opinion. On this last trip we saw hundreds of sharks, snapper, barracuda, extremely healthy corals, mantas, dolphins, and everything else you can imagine. Oh and a school of pilot whales chasing the largest school of Tuna that I have ever seen!

My first week I was on the OH 1 which holds 6 passengers and 3 crew. The food is very good and the accommodations are comfortable and clean but not luxurious like the OH 3. This trip was my third with Captain Troy and Dive-master Richard. I can only tell you that they are phenomenal. The OH1 is only 65 feet and they trail a comfortable boat with it to access the dive sites when the waters are to rough to dive off of the OH 1 otherwise you dive right off of the ship! This boat is a terrific choice if you want to avoid crowds and go virtually anywhere the small group agrees on.

Week two I moved to OH 3. The crew is outstanding, food is very good but again the stars are Jade and Angelo who went on every dive with us and bent over backwards to please everyone. The OH 3 is amazing. The only reason my next trip will be a tough decision is because of my fondness of Troy and Richard from the OH 1.

My trip started September 20th which just happened to contain two Typhoons. While neither was a direct hit, Palau was covered by both systems for my three week trip. Both crews did an amazing job of keeping us safe, and when the weather allowed it, getting us out to the best sites like Blue Corner, German Channel etc.

The two owners are also terrific. Navot and Tova are great hosts and have never disappointed me. If there is one negative about the entire Fish & Fins operation, it is the on site photo shop. I believe that the space is rented by a British gentleman named Richard. To put it lightly, he is obnoxious and not well liked by any of the crew that I chatted with about him. I had forgotten my camera and I wanted to rent a camera for 4 days. Now keep in mind that Fish & Fins has day boats that drive past and stop at the OH 3 on a daily basis. He insisted on a full 7 day rental claiming that their would be "issues" with him getting his camera back. Even after Tova went and spoke to him, he still wouldn't budge. Moral of the story, don't forget your camera and don't spend a dime with Richard.
