Comments our (three adults) first trip to Indonesia ...stay was 16 nights at Wakatobi.... Diving was simply outrageously wonderful....beyond anything we ever expected.....ALL staff simply outrageous....I want to emphasize ALL staff ...everyone knows you by your first name...food absolutely outstanding - 3 squares a day...boat crews just tops....all land based staff also tops........three full 70 minute boat dives a day was absolutely fine for us and we are aggressive divers. Corals and fish life breathtaking....pristine reefs every dive...we had two different dedicated-to-the-three-of-us dive guides over our stay - first Komang and then Yono ...(Komang was obliged to work the resort live aboard after five days with us)...these gentlemen were fantastic at finding small stuff as well as pointing out larger stuffs...alas, no sightings of large critters out in the deep blue....dive guides all have slates to communicate sightings....we established a "WOW" rating - whenever either Komang or Yono wrote WOW on the slate, we knew what we were seeing was a rare sighting for the area...most dives were drift wall dives after which DM raised a sausage and dive boat came and fetched us....we pulled out of one dive due to extreme current....finicky current comes and goes and changes quite quickly...for house reef diving, your DM (rarely more than 4 people per DM- again, we were three) will assist you reading the tide and current and suggest dive plan with entry/exit points . There is one night dive scheduled every five, six days in lieu of that day's afternoon's dive. Dive boats were spacious and quite accommodating...minimal giant stride off boat and away you went...nice area on boats for cameras plus fresh water camera rinse......hot scented face towels met you coming out of the water plus a huge bath towel to dry off....DM's got us beverages and passed out snacks/small sandwiches after very dive....spacious head also on board.

Take the time to say "Hello" to the staff...engage them in conversation - include them in your experience - you will be handsomely rewarded. The staff was a HUGE part of making our BUCKET LIST trip to Wakatobi such a wonderful experience...(of course, the diving was unbelievable also, and beyond comparison for us)...we are husband, wife and brother-in-law ages 65, 65 and 70

Breakfast at 6:30, dive boat for two dives at 7:30...back for lunch at 12:30 followed by 2:30pm afternoon dive..cleanup, watch sunset, dinner at 7pm..then lounge chairs at waters edge star watching and then in bed by 9-9:30...repeat daily.... while there are other activities available, we were there for the diving and were quite complete with that...

We were absolutely very well prepared for this trip by Miss Tina from ISLAND DREAMS right down to the most minute detail.

Truly for us, a trip of a lifetime...

UW Photo Comments There is a dedicated camera room with appropriate electricity in the original lodge building. We did not use it...Never heard of any issues leaving equipment there...We had a (provided) power strip in our room that accommodated our electronic recharging quite nicely thus unnecessary to utilize camera room..oh and we did bring one power converter that we plugged a three adapter into - this completed our recharging capabilities.
