This trip was wonderful. Both of us (diver and snorkeler) were impressed with service, quality of reefs, interesting people, wonderful "house" reef and the location of the resort. From the moment we arrived in customs in Bali (the day before the charter to the resort) we were taken care of. The charter flight was great, the facilities and staff were wonderful and the dive staff was professional, available, but not overbearing in any way. A friend was along with us who hadn't been diving in a while and she received a little extra attention whenever she needed it. The diving was interesting, and with Wakatobi's dedication to working with local villages to provide resources as an alternative to overfishing, we trust that fish life will continue to get better. We heard some of the other divers talking about seeing a school of more than 10 juvenile silver tips, a harbinger of healthy reefs and more large fish to come. Also there was a huge school jacks on the house reef, along with many other interesting fish to see (pygmy seahorses, leaf fish, frog fish, ribbon eels, etc.) We loved the trip so much we immediately booked a return visit, as did our friend and two other people who were there at the same time. Make sure to spend some time in Bali; we had a wonderful guide/driver. |
