Wonderful wide angle opportunities with beautiful corals. The space for recharging was a bit small, but our boat was full of photographers, so it would be fine with other trips. The crew was very accommodating finding us charging space. Excellent large camera tables on deck. With your OK, the crew would take your camera for you from the camera table, load it on the boat, rinse it after the dive, and return it to the camera table. Never any problems with the way they handled my equipment. |

The Seven Seas is a great boat! The cabins are roomy and comfortable, the food was excellent and always included some Indonesian dishes, and the entire dive set up was easy and got you in the water. We dove from two skiffs and one inflatable, sometimes returning to the boat, but more often followed by the skiff driver. At Crystal Bommie, the coral and fish life was so amazing and so dense, sometimes you felt you couldn't move for all the fish! At Manta Alley, we hunkered down and watched the parade go by, beautiful mantas one after another. We dove 2 different areas with two different currents and the water temp varied over 10 degrees. My 3 ml farmer john and shorty weren't enough when it was colder, particularly with 4 dives a day. A departing diver left me her 5/7 vest and hood and it saved my trip. We also did some land excursians from the boat. Since we were in Komodo Park, we visited Komoda Rinca and opted for the long hike. We saw dragons, water buffalos, & wild horses and the vistas were incredible. We did another hike on an uninhabited island, up and over a ridge to a beautiful pink beach. Again, incredible views and a beautiful island except for one enlightening thing. Here on this beach, far away from everything, there was a 15 ft. wide swath of garbage, mostly plastic, at high tide. I'm knowledgable about pollution, but this brought it home to me as nothing has before. When will we wake up and see what we're doing to our beloved oceans??? The last night, we had a wonderful barbecue on a lonely beach with a full moon. It was beautiful. Great diving, great crew, great food, great boat! |
