Serenade had space for 12 divers but only 6 were on that trip.
Food was good and plenty. They charge for beer and sodas (normal).
The ship usually moved at night or 5 AM when the captain could see; the
motor was loud; there was A/C but no hot water. The crew was very
helpful. But, at Manado airport, the corrupt customs officers claimed that
my passport was full ( last 2 pages were empty; post trip, US passport
agency says when you get to last 4 pages, then it's full); so they wanted
$600US or I go back to Singapore. They got only US$210 --I had monies in
other pockets. So, the crew got no tip; Lonely Planet book on Indonesia
does not mention gratuities.
Tono was the divemaster; he was good for dive spots and finding creatures
--esp., a black-hair sea horse at Lembeh; only 1 white tip shark that week.
Some sites had many fishes and abundant sea life/ coral. 2 dives were
repeated at Bunaken when I stayed following week at Bastiano resort
