Comments This is our second trip to LBR. They have the same owner (Troy) as before, but new managers (Luciano and Romina). They are an absolute delight and will bend over backwards to make sure you are taken care of. We went on May in hopes of seeing a whale shark. There had been 2 or 3 seen every day until we got there, then they just disappearred. However, we did see a 25 footer on our last day. The highlight of our trip was encountering a pod of orcas. At one point I think we had about 12 ocras around the boat. 5 of the whales stayed with the boat for a little over 2 hours. They would swim under the boat, and just seemed curious about us. There were 2 "babies" that seemed to be twins. They swan everywhere together while big mama kept her eys on them and us. I was able to get some video footage of the orcas under the boat and the mama orca actually bumped my video housing. To see a sample of the video you can go to this site. [oceanimagesinc.com link]
There was a pretty good breeze most of the time which really kept the bugs away. However, I have been there when there was not any wind, and the no-see-ums will eat you alive.
This is a great place with an involved owner and excellent manager team. The boats and dive center are really nice.
Highly recommend LBR!
