Comments the good: staff and owners were good, friendly, helpful(esp., Lucy); diving was about AVERAGE and better than Cozumel '09; costs were low -- $6/ nite if no crowds, $25 / tank if greater than 10 dives; local restruants were $4 to $7 for all meals; meals at La Ceiba were less; new divers were friendly; good budget operations.

the bad: taxi cab drivers were liars and usually overcharged greatly even if you spoke a little spanish; esp. bad was the large fat man w/ orange tee-shirt who agreed to 150 lempiras than demanded 200 L at the end; ferry from La Ceiba to Utila was $23; the no-see-ums or sand flies were were bad at hotel Kayla; all divers got bit unless the wind was blowing hard; 98% DEET did not work; baby oil worked 90-99% of the time. bldgs. were mostly shabby.
