The resort is gorgeous and well worth the trip to get there. They recommended Jewel's Bubble Divers, a fairly new dive operation run by a charming couple, Qio and Eunice Morisio, just a few minutes walk from the resort. It was named after their 3-year old daughter Jewel, who kept us company as we were gearing up and seemed to keep an eye on everything. Good selection of rental equipment. Qio is the head divemaster and took us to quite a few great sites in the Somosomo Strait, including the famous Great White Wall and Rainbow Reef. He is very attentive and quick to point out the tiniest critters. His boat can handle up to six divers and is very basic. No cover, and that can be a drag in the fierce Fijian sun, although most sites can be reached in 10 to 20 minutes. Fortunately, the surface interval is often on a beautiful shaded beach shared by other dive operators. |
