Comments One of the best dive trips ever. I want to keep this brief - it's also my first review here: you DEFINITELY need a 5 mm wetsuit - the thermoclines can be nasty dropping as much as 17 degrees F in some places.
The trip out is arduous for anyone who suffers from sea-sickness. I do not, but my partner does and even in moderate seas (5-6 foot swells) the trip is laborious.
Take a rattle to alert other divers - there is so much to see, you'll want one.
Overall, the boat was fantastic and Captain Alberto and his crew were stellar. Warren, the other dive master (Alberto being one) is phenomenal. Having said that, these are difficult dives even for experienced divers - we had 15 knot currents at times and it was quite a wild ride. this brings me to another point - it is hard not to like Alberto (or 'Beto' as he is affectionately known) and he runs a great operation - but he is generally more interested in taking photographs and video than watching his dive group. We were split up on more than one occasion and it was clear he did not know where we were - this pissed a couple of people off. He also does have a habit of doing exactly what he and his crew tell one NOT to do - rush towards an animal, lights ablaze. but other than that, I REALLY HIGHLY recommend this boat and this crew - they took fantastic care of us and it is really clear that Beto LOVES the Isla Del Coco and loves taking excellent care of his guests. he is a champion of the wildlife in that area and I grew extremely fond of him and warren as well as the other members of the Okeanos crew during the trip.
