Okay, admittedly I'm a fan of Peter's Hughes operation. So right up front you know I like to be pampered along with great diving. So now on to the Aggressor Fleet at Cocos Island. Following a late (autopilot failure)but uneventful crossing, leading to missed dives upon arrival diving met all expectations. The pelagic life is as offered in the brochures, sharks, sharks, and more sharks; mantas, whale sharkes, turtles..it's all there. The accomodations on the other hand leave room for improvement. Staff were competent, engaging, knowledgable and definitely enjoyed their jobs. The ship is in need of work, and compared to the Okeanos vessels that we tailed all week long, there is was no comparison. The food was another story...rating it a 2 is being kind. Bland, much like one would find at a secret CIA prison!! Every meal was served buffet still with the underlining cost the overriding concern. Okay, I admitted early on, I like to be pampered. After all those Peter Hughes trips, there is no comparison. Problem is Peter doesn't go where the action is!!! As the week came to end we were forced to cut the diviing short, so we could make the trip back before low tide, missing one dive...an done dive is Cocos is not to be missed. |
