First part of October on the west side of Vancouver Island in Barkley
Sound. Sunny, breaching humpbacks, sea lions chasing us, excellent macro
subjects, giant pacific octos, wolf eels, then back to the lodge for
Kathy's excellent cooking.

While a 7mm wet suit, especially a semi-dry, would work, this is ideally
dry suit diving. Spectacular scenery and outstanding diving.

Peter and Kathy have done a great job up-grading the lodge and boat, and it
is quite comfortable. Maximum of ten divers. At the lodge, five rooms for
two, with two bathrooms. Dinners are family style. If you like wine or beer
with dinner, be sure to bring it along, as it is not stocked on the
premises.

As noted in another post, there is a surface plankton layer in the Fall to
a depth of 10-15 feet. Great viz below that level. Pinnacle and wall
diving. We had slight current and surge and generally excellent
conditions.

There is an annual six gill shark week scheduled in the July-August time
frame. An excellent opportunity to see these rare animals.
