No deco diving. Divemaster strongly suggested depth 110ft limit but was not enforced - really was not an issue due to the dive sites as most were 80-100 max anyway. Quickly assessed veteran divers vs. those that were newer or neeeded some watching and the divemaster acted accordingly. |

Trip was Nov 15-22, 2008. Rained 5 of 7 days almost all day and downpours. Was my 5th trip to Bonaire and first trip that rain was ever an issue. Dive operation is first class. Nitrox setup (testing, etc) is one of the best I have seen - tester is intergrated into the pressure check gauge so you accomplished both in one very convenient operation. Tanks were always 3000+. Dive staff is first rate from both the management to the divemasters. Stayed at Plaza Resort for first time (have stayed at Captain Don's and Divi in the past). Rooms were extremely nice and modern. Dive shop (lockers)and shore diving are about 300 yards apart so unless you can find shop personnel to take your gear to the resort shore diving spot you have to carry it (but they would transport it for you if you found them). Tanks for shore diving are at the entry site so that is not an issue. The resort shore diving is not as convenient as Cpt Don's or Divi as they have no dock for entry - its stricly a walk in shore entry - not that this is a big deal but you must dodge the coral rocks on entry and doing a night dive walking in can be a challange. However, the staff went well out of their way to assist you with tanks, getting your gear moved etc if needed. Wireless internet is available for a small fee but getting a signal in your room was just about impossible - had to be on your pourch or in the main building. With all the rain the week we were there that was a challenge in exposing your laptop to the elements. Overall Plaza Resort is a well run, very friendly operation and the dive operation staff have a very positive attitude. Definitely would return to these operations. |
