This was our 5th trip to Bonaire, all at Divi Flamingo and with Divi Dive Bonaire. The food at the resort is superb at breakfast and Ok at lunch and dinner. Our dive shop had breakfast included in the package, but we were on our own for lunch and dinner and this is the best way to do it. We were able to walk 10-15 min. to downtown and ate at some excellent restaurants (Capreccio's, Crocantino's, and It Rains Fishes are three fine examples). The dive operation is excellent. Our two divemasters, Laurel and Rofino, are superb. We have been with them before and will ask for them again. The boats are fine, nothing fancy, but fine enough. The dive sites were all within 15 min. and the reefs were healthy with plenty of critters, some turtles, lots of morays (spotted and golden), frogfish, octopus, seahorses, juvenile drum, and many others. We did not see any green morays or sharks. The viz was about 60-80 feet most of the time. Shore diving from the resort is easy and the reef in front of the resort (Calabas) is excellent with plenty of aquatic life. We did one night boat dive, but a night dive off the resort pier is about equal to a boat dive. All in all, Bonaire is a great dive destination, and we'll go back with our dive shop (Wateree Dive Center in Columbia, SC) and stay at Divi Flamingo again and dive with Divi Dive Bonaire again also. I hope Air Jamaica will continue to service Bonaire. We have flown with them twice down there and no problems. ALM is another story (disaster is a better term). I can't wait to go again. |
