The Villas at Banyan Bay had spacious, beautiful facilities and friendly service--top-notch. Bottom Time divers was safe and dependable, and our divemaster Rudy was friendly, attentive and safe. Rudy's the best. He pointed out things we never would have noticed, especially on the night dive. Visibility was only average or slightly above, but the diving was outstanding. We swam with nurse sharks, saw turtles and two large spotted eagle rays, barracudas, etc. Visit Shark-Ray Alley, where you can snorkel with nurse sharks and sting rays. The people on Ambergris Caye were quite friendly, and we felt safe. Some kids did try to sell us necklaces and other things, but they weren't pushy. For at least a day or two, rent a golf cart for transportation. Our trip to the mainland for the jungle river cruise was interesting (we saw manatees) but overpriced, and the boat trip to the mainland was too long and rough. By the time we arrived, I was seasick. The food in Ambergris Caye was decent, and our favorite was a small place called Papi's Diner. We loved Amergris Caye, Banyan Bay and Bottom Time, and hope to try this again. |
